Each tablet contains :
Vitamin B6 ( Pyridoxine HCL ) …………………………………………………30 mg.
Folic Acid …………………………………………………………………… 400 mcg.
Description :
Vitamin B6 acts as coenzyme in the metabolism of protein,
carbohyradate and fat. In protein metabolim, it participates in the
decarboxylation of amino acid, conversion of tryptophan to niacin or to
serotonin ( 5-hydroxytrytamine ), deamintaion, transaamination and transulfuration
of amino acid. In carbohydrate metabolism, it is responsible for breakdown of
glycogen to glucose-1-phosphate. In fat metabolism, vitamin B6 involved in the
conversion of linoleic acid to the biologically important arachidonic acid.
Vitamin B6 is sometimes of value in the treatment of nausea and vomiting in
pregnancy. Folic acid is essential in cell DNA synthesis. The use of folic acid
in pregnancy alleviate anemia and prevent neural tube defects.
Usage :
Pregnancy supplement of vitamin B6 and folic acid.
Dosage and Administration :
1 ( one ) tablet daily.
Contraindications :
History of hypersensitivity to pyridoxine or folic acid.
Drug Interactions :
Pyridoxine reduces the effects of levodopa, but this does
not occur if a dopa decarboxylase inhibitor is also given. The requirement for
pyridoxine increased in patient using isoniazid ( INH ), oral contraception and
penicillamine.
